In 2004, the Habitat Resort management rights were purchased by Jane and Michael Leake, Jane from a hospitality background and Michael with an environmental background. This provided a dynamic combination to turn the idea into reality. With the help of dedicated staff Habitat has become “Broome’s Premier Garden Resort”, providing a peaceful, relaxing and enjoyably refreshing Broome accommodation experience.
Our logo is a green tree frog, found in abundance throughout the resort. This reflects our strong focus on the word ‘Habitat’ and encompasses the concept of combining a nature and wildlife friendly retreat with all the services and amenities of a 4 star resort. Habitat Resort has great neighbours – from the Broome Golf Club with its magnificent views of Roebuck Bay; to the vast areas of natural bushland that envelop the resort with its abundant bush tucker plants, wild flowers, wallabies, large monitors and frilled necked lizards.
The ongoing evolution of the gardens is based on different themes and we have established garden walks that showcase plants of the Dampier Peninsula, local bush tucker plants and exotic tropical plants. This experience provides the encouragement for the guests to actually feel, smell, taste and immerse themselves in this part of the Kimberley’s environment that makes Habitat Resort a great tourist facility full of experiences rather than just a place to stay.
Habitat Resort Broome offers 32 self-contained apartments and bungalows, in a Broome style concept that embraces the tranquil and serene gardens, and has been 4 star rated by AAA since its founding. We are constantly striving to improve our guest’s Broome experience by listening to their wants, needs and expectations through their feedback forms and casual conversations that the guests love to share with us. We have established a loyal guest base that keeps returning, with many referrals from our previous guests that have become part of the Habitat family.
